“Your Lungs” Download

100% of proceeds being donated to NAACP

At the time “Your Lungs” was written, it was inspired by the depths of the grieving process, following a tragic death in the band's family. Of late, the song has taken on an even larger meaning for us: processing grief in this time of national suffering.

In traditional Chinese medicine, the lungs symbolize grief and sadness.  This symbolism has resonated with us, as grief is one of the most difficult emotions to process, but it can also serve as a catalyst for personal growth.

From the thousands of people put on ventilators throughout the pandemic to the devaluation and dehumanization of Black life at the hands of the police, the world is in need of healing and growth and we hope that this song can be a small part of helping to move in a more positive direction.

To take action, we will be donating all proceeds from downloads of “Your Lungs” made at the link above to the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund. This organization is a true catalyst of change, turning grief into growth within the USA by providing invaluable legal services, impacting criminal justice reform, civil rights law, and providing educational opportunities to those who need it most.

In addition to “Your Lungs,” we are also including covers of Modest Mouse’s "Float On" and REM’s "Nightswimming" in the download package -- they are not available on any streaming services. To us, both of these songs symbolize hope and growth after a healing process.

We urge you to help us to support the movement. Take the time to be patient with yourself and with others as we navigate towards real change.

Peace, love, and music,

Alex & Jessica
